| 内容記述 | The plays of William Shakespeare have been directed in various ways over time. Especially after the Restoration period, Shakespearean performances have greatly changed from their original style due to the advent of actresses and changes in stage structure. Although some attempts beginning in the early 20th century have been made to return to the original theatrical style of Elizabethan times, it is impossible to perfectly reproduce the original stage conditions. What we should do today is explore the diversity of Shakespearean performance through close investigation of the original text. In this paper, I would like to examine Shakespeare’s comedy, Twelfth Night, and consider how the text has been interpreted and embodied on stage focusing on the casting of twins in the play. | |||||
