| 内容記述 | Marriage, childbirth, child-rearing, and employment status are crucial concerns when considering a woman’s work-life balance and permanent employment. This study focuses on the life course and employment continuation of women from their 20s to 80s who graduated from a four-year women’s university course in Japan. It also examines women’s permanent employment through the social factor of generation and the family factor of parental expectations. The results include the following. 1) Women’s average life course chaned during these 60 years due to changes in the social system. Among the younger generation, more women continued to work while raising children. 2) Having a mother who expected them to be independent positively affected permanently employed women, even within the same generation. Particularly for women raising children, their mothers’ expectations of their independence and continued permanent employment were strong drivers for them continuing permanent employment. Therefore, it is important for mothers to expect their daughters to become independent; furthermore, education that fosters independent values in women should be promoted. | |||||
