Second, school played the important role of protecting and sheltering children from various troubles in their family lives. Third, the contents of their memories are hugely different from, for example, from one generation to another. The graduates of 1955, who spent their junior-high days in the era of low advancement rate in high schools, have bitter memories of giving up going to high school or helping out around the house.
