| 内容記述 | This paper explores family practices of female same-sex couples with children in Japan, focusing on the disruption and reproduction of normative frameworks rooted in the modern family model. Through interviews with six couples, the study identifies three primary types how they had children/conceived: stepfamilies, assisted reproductive technology (ART) users, and self-insemination cases. These families deviate from heteronormative frameworks rooted in modern family ideologies ― specifically, the romantic love ideology that integrates love, marriage, and procreation; gender-based division of labor; and monogamous relational structures. Yet, the findings reveal that some couples internalize and reproduce these norms, often unintentionally. In the absence of legal and institutional support, these families are frequently compelled to justify their familial status in both public and private settings. At the same time, the presence of children can facilitate reconciliation with families of origin. This study applies subjective family theory to analyze the family practices of female same-sex couples with children and their interactions with others. It highlights both the diversity and persistence of family norms in contemporary Japan, suggesting that while such practices may contest dominant norms, they fall short of fundamentally transforming them. | |||||
