| 内容記述 | A Christmas Carol published on 19 December, 1843 remains the most famous and universally beloved of all of Charles Dickens’s works. It is the heart-warming moral story of Ebenezer Scrooge, an elderly mean-spirited and cold-blooded miser who undergoes a dramatic transformation into a better, kinder and gentler man as a result of his encounters with the ghost of his former business partner, Jacob Marley and the three spirits of Christmas Past, Present, and Yet to Come. The storyline of this timeless classic looks simple and easy-to-understand for everyone, and suitable for reading to children at the fireplace, making it the ideal Christmas entertainment. However, taking a closer look at the details of the novel, we can find every section filled with Bible messages and carefully built upon biblical principles. In this study, I will examine how the ghosts play the roles of Christ and Death to lead us to the resurrection of the soul and all ghost sections are integrated into a Christian central teaching “Repent to be saved and do good works to have everlasting life,” making it a successful Christian allegory. |
