First, the characteristics of a guide interpreter were introduced, as well as effective preparation for working as a guide. Second, a model tour was conducted in class in order for the participants to understand tour operations, basic information of Kyoto city and historical places such as Kyoto Gyoen National Garden and the Imperial Palace. Appropriate English phrases and sentences were presented in the session. A survey was conducted to clarify what kinds of obstacles there were for the participants to overcome when guiding, and to establish whether the motivation to be tour guides increased or not after the seminar. The results clearly showed that the participants did indeed have obstacles, such as insufficient knowledge of Japanese culture and history, and low English ability. It was suggested that studying daily and the actual guiding experiences would help participants to enhance the necessary practical expressions in English. Tour guides are one part of the hospitality industry. It is ideal for both guests and guides to have a ‘win-win’ mindset to share a joyful and enjoyable time together by respecting, accepting and understanding their cultural differences., 実践報告}, pages = {239--258}, title = {同志社女子大学英語英文学会 2018年春の卒業生対象セミナー「英語で京都を案内しよう!」}, volume = {54}, year = {2019}, yomi = {チヨマ, イズミ} }
