However, when we closely examine these two major plots and the role of each character, it becomes apparent that in the Chancery plot, Dickens asks us all people to realize what is needed in their missions in society，and in Esther's plot, what brings us the true happines in our own lives. That is, \"love,\" which Dickens has an unshaken faith that has the power to make the world a better place by uniting people with sympathy, is the very theme that can integrate the two plots and the whole of the novel.
