The Paranormal Beliefs Scale （Moroi et al., 2014）, the Attributional Complexity Scale（Fletcher et al., 1986; Moroi, 2000）, and the Orientation toward the Critical Thinking Scale（Hirooka, et al., 2000; 2001） were administered to female undergraduates （N=468）. The factor analyses（principal factor method with promax rotations） were executed for those scales. Five factors for paranormal beliefs were extracted: belief in augury, belief in unidentified objects, belief in the soul, belief in preternatural power, positive attitude toward science. According to a series of regression analyses（stepwise method）, paranormal beliefs were significantly determined by ordinary thinking styles. Interestingly, contrary to prediction, in several cases, active thinking strengthened paranormal beliefs.
