          <datacite:description descriptionType="Abstract">The analysis of the Japanese school system shows, that fundamental change in school practice and teacher training is necessary. The study of "Waldorfpadagogik" can be helpfull for this change. Since teacher training is directly related to school live, the first part of the article provides an outline on the most important elements of "Waldorfpadagogik": the scientific method to gain anthroposophical insights in human beings, the children's developmental processes and formal elements in the school routine. In a next chapter, we formulate the fundamental principals of anthroposophical teacher training with special emphasis on practicing the observation of soul activities relying on methods from the natural sciences ("seelische Beobachtung nach naturwissenschaftlicher Methode"). Moving from theory to implementation, three anthroposophical teacher training colleges from Germany (from Kassel, Kiel and Mannheim) are presented to explain the training curriculum (basic work in seminars, training in the arts and practice-oriented lectures in methodology and didactics) and the realization of the practical training. Finally, we propose some reforms to the current anthroposophical teacher training. These proposals can also apply for teacher training in Japanese universities.</datacite:description>
