The Association between Past Relationship Experiences with Parents and Family Nicknames Used by Parents and Female Undergraduates: Looking back at the elementary school age.

In the present study, female undergraduates（N=260）were asked to look back over two kinds of family names in the elementary school age. The respondents remembered the name they used for their father and mother and the name their parents used for them. Also, the Past Relationship Experiences with Parent Scale（Moroi et al.）was administered. The majority of respondents used family names which accorded with the social norm. The result of analyses of variance indicated that “name+chan” lowered control experience with father. The socio-psychological functioning of the family name was discussed.
